My Passion

A lot of people talk about what they’re passionate about—sports, music, their future plans—and all of that is great. I am passionate about education that is Christ-centered.

For a while I thought that my value was tied to climbing the “educational” ladder, getting the degrees, moving up into administration, etc.

But then Christ freed me from that bondage, and now for me, my greatest passion is Jesus Christ. He’s not just someone I hear about at church or pray to when things go wrong. He’s my Savior, my best friend, and the one who gives my life meaning and direction.

When I go through hard times, He’s the one I turn to. When I’m celebrating something good, I thank Him. When I mess up—and I do a lot—He’s the one who forgives me and reminds me of who I really am in Him.

Jesus isn’t just a Sunday thing for me. He’s with me in the classroom, in the grocery store, at home, and when I’m hanging out with friends. I want people to see Him in how I live, how I treat others, and how I handle life.

My relationship with Jesus gives me hope, peace, and a purpose that goes beyond grades, popularity, or even success. That’s why I talk about Him. That’s why I live for Him. And that’s why I’m passionate about helping others know Him too."

And that brings me December 2024 Christ began speaking loudly to me.

First from:

Acts 20:24 - But I consider my life of no value to myself; my purpose is to finish my course and the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of God’s grace.

You see, my life really does mean nothing if I am not fulfilling the plan and purpose Christ has for me. That plan is sharing, or speaking about the Good News found in Christ. Sharing what Christ has done for me that He can do for you also.

Then Christ spoke from 1 Timothy 6:11- 15 But you, man of God, flee from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of eternal life to which you were called and about which you have made a good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 In the presence of God, who gives life to all, and of Christ Jesus, who gave a good confession before Pontius Pilate, I charge you 14 to keep this command without fault or failure until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Then as to reaffirm what He (Christ) was saying He spoke yet again through 2 Timothy 4: 6-8 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time for my departure is close. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing.

Ok, now it is starting to weigh on me and sink in. It was like I have given you the gift of teaching, why are you not using them?

And then finally from Philippians 3:12-14 Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, 14 I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.

Ok, I heard Him loud and clear. Christ said I gave you the gift of teaching, why are you not using that gift?

I hope you have been following the theme that Christ gave me.

Acts – purpose – to communicate the Gospel

1 Tim – purpose – to keep communicating until Christ comes

2 Tim – purpose – keep it up, time is short

Philippians – purpose – because Christ has gotten hold of me

Ok, so you are asking what the point is?

A Couple of Things:

1} I have enjoyed my time as principal, not only here at Kentucky but also my time at in North Carolina. Being a principal allows you to mold teachers and staff, to guide the direction of the school. And yet that is not what Christ has called me to do. He has called me to train students.

2} Since 1989, When Christ first called me to teach, a position that I never thought I would do when I was in High School. But when Christ “gets a hold of you” Philippians, things like that change.

So, having said all of this, I can no longer ignore what Christ has made clear in my life. My purpose is not found in titles or positions, but in faithfully using the gifts He has given me to impact students for His kingdom. Teaching is not just a career for me—it is a calling, a ministry, and an opportunity to share the truth of the Gospel daily. I want to finish the race well, to be found faithful, and to invest my life in what truly matters. Wherever Christ places me, my desire is simple: to teach, to disciple, and to point others to Him, because He is worthy of it all.

Blessings
